Private Roundtable: Global Regulatory Enforcement Approaches to Tackle Greenwashing: Lessons for Asia

10 May @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Commonwealth Climate & Law Initiative (CCLI), a UK-based charity, and the EW Barker Centre for Law and Business, National University of Singapore (EWBCLB), a premier business law research centre in Asia are co-organising the ‘Private Roundtable: Global Regulatory Enforcement Approaches to Tackle Greenwashing: Lessons for Asia’ on 10 May 2024 at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore (the Private Roundtable).

The key focus of the Private Roundtable is on the regulatory enforcement of greenwashing stemming from unsubstantiated claims about a company’s asserted transition plans, or a breach of sustainable disclosure standards, and whether either could, in turn, amount to a breach of directors’ duties.

While the primary participants comprise esteemed regulators from South Asia and policy professionals from international organisations such as Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), we have secured a diverse and well-rounded panel, complemented by the presence of practitioners and academics, to enrich our discussion.

The Private Roundtable shall comprise two sessions. The first session shall delve into the constituents of greenwashing from a global perspective. The second session shall primarily focus on engagement and enforcement strategies to tackle the issue of greenwashing. Each session will feature two keynote speakers, who shall set the tone for the ensuing discourse.

Please note that the event is an invite-only closed-door event. All discussions are strictly confidential.
